Bee Sting

A few months back we went out on the town with some friends (minus children) and ate at a wonderful place, but what I remember most about the meal (besides time away from the kids) was the COCKTAILS!!  What we ordered (many) was called the Viper: a tequila, cucumber water cayenne pepper drink that had a refreshing bite to every sip, and we were hooked!

Since that night out, we've re-created the Viper and changed the name appropriately to the Bee Sting (get it, since we replace the sugar syrup with honey syrup, bee sting!) Not only did we NAIL IT, we once again had (many) and this is my latest go-to cocktail recipe when I want a refreshing cocktail with a kick.  I promise, you'll LOVE this one!

**You will need to prepare your cucumber water a day in advance, so keep that in mind for your Friday night cocktails...or your Monday night cocktails, I'm not judging!!

How to make it - serves 1

  • 1 Cucumber Slice (quartered)
  • 1 Lime Slice (quartered)
  • 1-2 Jalapeno Slices (depending on how hot you like it!)
  • 1/2 oz (1/2 shot) Hudson & Lee Honey Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz (or 1 shot) 100% Agave Tequila
  • 1 oz (or 1 shot) Orange Liqueur (we like Patron)
  • 2 oz (or 2 shots) Cucumber Water (1/2 of a cucumber sliced and covered with water overnight)

Slice up 1/2 of a cucumber and place in a pitcher of water and place the pitcher in refrigerator overnight.  Muddle together 1 cucumber slice (quartered), 1 lime slice (quartered), 1-2 jalapeño slices, and 1/2 oz (1/2 shot) Hudson & Lee honey simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.  Add ice, 1 oz (or 1 shot) 100% agave tequila, 1 oz (or 1 shot) orange liqueur, and 2 oz (or 2 shots) cucumber water to the shaker and shake for 30 seconds.  Strain and pour over ice.  Add a slice of cucumber to the glass rim and ENJOY!
