Mexico City Mule
A good Mexico City Mule starts with a good ginger beer, a great Mexico City Mule sweetens with honey simple syrup!
I guess you have to be living under a rock not to know what a Moscow Mule is these days, but we decided to switch things up and add tequila instead of vodka to our Mexico City Mule. The main keys to making a good Mule is using a good tequila, mixing in a good ginger beer and adding a touch of Hudson & Lee Honey Simple Syrup to balance the natural bite you get from the ginger beer.
We have sampled our fair share of ginger beers and we stick with either Fever Tree Ginger Beer or Reed's Premium Ginger Beer. Quite frankly, I'm shocked that there are ginger beers with high fructose corn syrup and other junky ingredients. Just walk away from those....can we start promising each other to not buy that crap anymore? Please??!!
Ok, back to our Mexico City Mule...it's another one of those refreshing cocktails that can be enjoyed all year, and we do enjoy it ALL year! This cocktail is actually quite easy to make, so if you need a quick after work pick me up or a last minute entertaining drink, this is it!
How to make it - serves 1
- 2 oz 100% Agave Tequila (or 2 regular shots)
- Juice of 1/2 Lime
- 1 oz (or 1 shot) Hudson & Lee Honey Simple Syrup
- Ginger Beer (Reed's or Fever Tree, or your favorite)
- Sprig of Mint & Lime Wedge for Garnish
Fill copper glass with ice, then add tequila, lime juice and honey syrup to glass and mix. Fill to the top with ginger beer and add mint sprig and lime wedge to glass and serve. Enjoy!
